Couch to 5k with Fenland Running Club
I want to run 5k!

The course in now about halfway through so read on but be aware we're a bit too far down the line to add beginners at the moment. Keep an eye out for when we run the next course.
If the idea of running feels a bit scary, you’re not alone - and you’re exactly who this Couch to 5k is for.
Fenland Running Club’s Couch to 5k is designed for people who don’t see themselves as runners (yet). You don’t need to be fit, fast or confident. You don’t need any experience. If you are 18 or over, can walk, you can start Couch to 5k, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
For nine weeks between 12th May and 19th July we meet every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evening at 7:00pm at Wisbech Rugby Club. The sessions are gentle, friendly, and supportive, with plenty of walking, lots of encouragement, and absolutely no pressure. Nobody gets left behind and nobody is expected to “keep up”. We match the NHS App program, adding help on warmups and stretching, ensuring you do not hurt yourself.
The course is led by qualified England Athletics Run Leaders and supported by experienced club coaches, so you’ll be in safe hands. Your main run leaders will be Zoe and Andrew, but you will meet other leaders and the club coaches throughout the programme.

Zoe and Andrew genuinely care about helping people believe in themselves.
They understand how daunting starting running can feel, because they’ve helped many people take those first steps already. Their goal isn’t just to help you reach 5K, it’s to help you feel confident, proud and comfortable with running as part of your everyday life.
They are also Run Directors at Wisbech parkrun, and during the course we’ll gently encourage you to try parkrun as your third weekly session. parkrun is a free, friendly, timed 5k that you can walk, jog or run, with loads of encouragement from volunteers and other participants. Many people are surprised by how welcoming and supportive it is. You'll also get to see your improvements week by week.
Fenland Running Club and Wisbech parkrun are both built around encouragement, kindness and community. We don’t want anyone feeling nervous, alone or unsupported. You’ll be cheered on, reassured when things feel hard, and celebrated for every small win, because every step really does count and we count every step.
